New York State to Start an Aggressive COVID-19 Antibody Testing Survey This Week
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Sunday in a press conference that New York will start an aggressive statewide antibody testing survey this week. Three thousand people in New York will be part of the sample survey for a state with 19.5 million people. For context, Germany also performed an antibody testing survey in its country, and it tested 3,000 people for a population of 83 million.
"This will be the first true snapshot of exactly how many people were infected by COVID-19 and where we are as a population and will help us to reopen and rebuild without jeopardizing what we've already accomplished," Governor Cuomo said during his press conference.
NEW: NYS will undertake the most aggressive statewide antibody testing survey in the nation in the next week.
It will tell us for the first time what percentage of the population has actually had #Coronavirus.
This will be the first true snapshot of what we're dealing with.
