China reported 108 new confirmed cases of coronavirus on Sunday, the highest daily number the country has had since early March, according to data released today from the National Health Commission.
A vast majority of the latest confirmed cases — 98 — were "imported," or brought into China from other countries, prompting concerns that foreign travel into China could trigger another surge of infections as the country tries to recover.
New cases of COVID-19 jumped from 99 on Saturday to 108 on Sunday.
The latest figures put total confirmed cases in China at 82,160 and the death toll at 3,341.
In comparison, the United States has 557,663 confirmed cases of coronavirus, and a death toll of 22,146 as of this morning, according to data from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
